Lycian Way Photos
Planning, planning, planning
First meeting Likya Yolu's red/white wayfinders
Here we go!
Above Olu Deniz
Overlooking Kabak Valley
Likya waymark on rocks
First campsite .... before moving into the open field where I met other campers
Going off the trail and walking into the unknown.
Being invited in for tea
A camping site with a flat grass area to walk around -- heaven!
Found a water cistern!
Camping on olive terraces with views down the valley... the mosque tower can be seen and the call to prayer plays from it and can be heard at camp.
Daisy on her doorstep
My favorite photo... the Turkish grandma
My second favorite photo... grandma's daughter and grandson
Hardworking women in the yufka factory
Village women work hard!
Seaviews.... can't recall where exactly this is
Water taps along the trail
Brothers Mehmet and Selcuk
The Gelidonya lighthouse
At the Gelidonya lighthouse
Brilliant colour after hours of muted greys and greens.
Likya waymarks show up on rocks and trees
An unusual Likya Yolu waymark... a billboard!
Great camping on a tiny black sand beach and bay... outside of Cirali, and where I met Mikhail.
Black sand beach where I camped and met Mikhail.
Pasha the rottweiler ...who looked and acted so much like my rottweiler, Monty.
"You lost?" Uh yeah, I am. Again.
Typical Likya waymark
A turning point in my journey... the river at the Roman Bridge.
Eighteen kilometres to go!
Tortoises showed up at various times along the trail... this guy was the last one I saw.
Two kilometres to go ... I'm stalling, I don't want it to end.
At the end
My hotel room in Antalya
Writing writing writing... I kept the tiny spiral-bound notebook in my pack's hip pocket so I could make notes along the way, and then wrote long form every afternoon/evening.
